On April 25, the Release 15 was announced thru the IMDS website. The changes are scheduled to take effect on July 5 or 6. They may be subject to change since they are still in the planning stage. This article provides a brief overview of the planned changes for Release 15.0. The six main updates are as follows.
Dynamic SVHC
MCCP (medium-chain chlorinated paraffins) regulation
Show rest as range
Product Carbon Footprint (PCF)
Updated User Privileges
Mandatory regulatory information
1. Dynamic SVHC
Certain substances will be considered SVHCs only under specific conditions. If a substance is regarded as an SVHC, it will affect all the related aspects such as where-used analysis and SCIP. For more details on the scenario in which certain substances are considered SVHCs, please refer to section “2. MCCP (medium-chain chlorinated paraffins) regulation” below.
2. MCCP (medium-chain chlorinated paraffins) regulation (MCCP 규제)
A new substance group, MCCP (medium-chain chlorinated paraffins), will be added, and a corresponding regulation type for MCCP will also be provided in the Regulation Wizard

When entering regulatory information, the "The substance contains" and "Hazard statements" fields are mandatory. All MCCP substances are subject to Dynamic SVHC classification.
If the regulatory information is not completed, or if "≥80% [...]" is selected in the "The substance contains" field, the MCCP substance will be marked as an SVHC.

3. Show rest as range
If one or more substances are present within the specified range for the material, the content of the remaining substances (Rest) will be adjusted from the average value to a range-based value. For data created prior to Release 15.0, the average value will be maintained as before.
This change also affects the detailed analysis results. For example, when searching for 40% iron, data created prior to Release 15.0 will not appear in the analysis results, whereas data created after Release 15.0 will be included.

4. Product Carbon Footprint (PCF)
The PCF functionality revealed this time is similar to what was previously introduced in the March edition of the newsletter (Detailed Overview of the IMDS PCF Feature). Additional points are as follows, and a comprehensive overview of the feature will be covered once again in detail in the June edition of the newsletter.
- PCF contact Person: Default PCF contact can be designated in the contact settings screen

- New errors & warnings related to PCF: Refer to “List of Errors & Warnings in IMDS”

5. Updated User Privileges
User roles, previously managed under broad categories such as Company Administrator and User, are now more granular, allowing access permissions to be assigned by specific functions. The change is in line with the January edition of the newsletter (Changes to User Permission Settings in IMDS Release 15.0). The detailed list of permissions is as follows.
