IMDS Update: Introduction to the PCF Function in IMDS Release 15.0 : MDSKorea Newsletter
Many are showing interest in the PCF feature that is scheduled to be implemented in the second quarter of 2025.
In this article, we will share the functional screens that have been made public thus far.
Relationship between MDS and PCF Data
In IMDS, Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is categorized into Production site-based PCF (hereinafter referred to as PCF) and Transportation-based PCF (hereinafter referred to as TCF).
PCF data is managed independently from MDS data.
PCF data can be registered/edited without any relation to the MDS release (approval/transmission/internal transmission).
Once a PCF file is received via MDS, the approval status can be verified, and the latest information can be retrieved whenever updates occur.
Production site-based PCF (PCF) Input Screen
The PCF input method is the same for materials, semi-components, and components.
The PCF input field is located at the bottom-right of the Ingredients tab.

When creating a new MDS and saving it for the first time, the Plus (+) button for inputting PCF data becomes activated.

Clicking the Plus (+) button opens a popup where you can input PCF data.
You can temporarily save (hereinafter referred to as Apply) the PCF data by clicking the Apply button, and confirm it (hereinafter referred to as Release) by clicking the Release button.
In the image below, the data marked with a blue box are required input values for applying.
Release is only possible when all values in both the blue and red boxes are entered.

You can view the data in the input popup by double-clicking each row of the PCF data.

Released data can be updated to a new version by clicking the edit button at the top-right of the popup.

When the edit button is clicked, the Version value at the top-right of the popup increases by +1, and the data enters edit mode.

Registered PCF data cannot be completely deleted but can only be deactivated.
PCF data that is either in edit mode or released can be deactivated (hereinafter referred to as Discontinued) by clicking the X button at the top-right.

Discontinued data will not be displayed in the details panel by default.
In the image below, if you check the ‘show discontinued production sites’ option for the area marked with a red box, the discontinued data will be shown in grey italics in the grid at the bottom.
However, it cannot be used for TCF input.

Transportation-based PCF (TCF) Input Screen
The TCF input method is the same as that of PCF and applies equally to materials, semi-components, and components.
TCF data is entered in the Recipient data tab.
TCF data must be entered separately for each recipient. (TCF data entered in the detail panels for Recipient A and Recipient B are managed independently.)

Clicking the Plus (+) button will open the TCF data input popup.

The Production Site value is a required field.
The Production Site list displays the Region previously entered as PCF data. (Discontinued data is excluded.)

Depending on the combination of Production Site and Customer Site values, TCF data can be entered.
Duplicate input using the same combination is not allowed.
