With this update, PFOA-related compounds have been added to the Class I (Specified Chemical Substances) List.
Regulatory Overview
The Act on the Regulation of Manufacture and Evaluation of Chemical Substances is the world's first chemical management system that regulates the manufacture, import, and use of chemical substances in Japan.
The Class I (Specified Chemical Substances) List includes PBT (Persistent, Bioaccumulative, and Toxic) substances.
Manufacture, use, and import of Class I substances are prohibited and inclusion of these substances in specific product types is also banned.
